Ambassadors for the Arts Project
The Phoenix Ensemble makes an innovative effort to reach new audiences through our Ambassadors for the Arts project. When arts professionals think of building new audiences, they gravitate to approaching young people, particularly K-12 students, and this is very important work. However, there is also a lot of important work to be done in directing audience building efforts towards adults and seniors, particularly the large baby boomer generation now retired or entering retirement. Our Phoenix Ensemble Ambassadors for the Arts project targets this older underserved audience with concerts, classes, performance workshops and other long-term residency services.
We embed our Phoenix Ensemble in a community for the long-term, become their own artistic staff, there to introduce, encourage, inspire, decode and make accessible great music. This project currently reaches an audience of thousands each year. We are now in ongoing partnerships with the 92nd Street Y, Saint Peter’s Church of Manhattan, the Sirovich Center, Greenwich House, and Lenox Hill Neighborhood House.
